Yes, sad but true, we do still have dial up services at our home, since we live out in the sticks. Our primary service is HughesNet Satellite, but we do use dial up as a backup in case of an outage.

We have been using Netscape for some time, but decided to give NetZero a try. After a few weeks, we decided to stick with Netscape.

So it was time to cancel NetZero…..

ARRRRGGGGGGGGGG

I explained the situation to Chris, the customer service rep. She said they would submit the cancellation request, but while she was waiting for it to go through, she wanted to extend our service free for a month to make sure, with an upgrade to their “Premium” service. (Ooooohhhhh….aaaaahhhhhhh)

I asked if I would have to call back to cancel, and she avoided the question, and went on about the free service offer……

This went on for 10 minutes (I can only assume that they use their own dial up service and that’s why it took so long for the cancellation to process…) 

Finally she figured out I wasn’t going to relent, and I was put on hold for another 5 minutes….

And then my cancellation request finally went through.

And she said…”We hope you consider NetZero in the future for your Internet needs…”

Double ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

What can I say….I just had to vent. 

With 67% of the public using Google to search for products, being listed on Google Maps makes sense. It doesn’t matter if you’re a small business or have dozens of shops, being listed on Google Maps makes it easy for people to find you when they search on Google. To add your business to Google Maps, here’s what you do:

Sign in to the Google Local Business Center. You will need to use an existing Google account or create a new one.

1. Supply your business information and select up to 5 categories that best describe your business.
2. Preview and verify your listing. To confirm your business location, Google sends you a postcard with a confirmation code. You will need to follow the instructions provided in the postcard and your listing will be live within 6 weeks.

As an added bonus, Google Maps allows business owners to add coupons to their listings free of charge once they’re approved and online. Coupons will appear alongside your business listing and can be printed off and brought to your store for use. Sweet!
